The 14th annual event makes another stop in Woodstock for the weekend of August 14-16th
WOODSTOCK - Two days of free family fun is returning to Southside Park for Cowapolooza 2015. The event that enters its 14th year takes place on August 14-16th and is promising to be a huge party in the park. Manager of Communications and Special Events with the City of Woodstock, Brad Janssen, gives the public a preview on what to expect. "We've got another really solid entertainment lineup, we have more vendors than ever before. The soap box derby will start at 9 o'clock on Finkle Street that is always fun to watch, and a full day of activities from the milking contest to Night Fever a critically acclaimed BeeGees tribute followed by ABBA Mania. We are looking forward to another successful event." Cowapolooza has been gaining in popularity over the past decade and a half having acts from Trooper to the Stampeders in attendance, and Janssen is pleased with the progression the festival has undergone.
Bigger than ever the free event will have something for everyone and Janssen explains how Cowapolooza came to be. "We didn't have any musical type of summer festivals in the community for quite some time, so we were able to expand the event and it just continues to grow. There's significant economic spin-off with the people coming in from out of town. With a fair share of notable acts mixed in with local entertainment it is a family friendly event and we hope it continues."
Janssen knows the importance of embracing Oxford County's heritage. "It is free to the public so collectively it is well over 10,000 in attendance over the two days of the event, if the weather is good it is the place to be. It's an event that allows us to celebrate our heritage, as the dairy capital and it is just to have some fun and congregate at the park for a great day of family fun and free entertainment." A strongman/strongwoman competition will be on site as well as skate park activities throughout the weekend. The full schedule can be found by visiting our events page by clicking here.
