Auxiliary officers with the Oxford OPP raised lots of food and cash donations for the food banks in Ingersoll and Tillsonburg with their Cram a Cruiser Fundraiser.
INGERSOLL & TILLSONBURG - Auxiliary officers with the Oxford OPP crammed their cruisers with donations for the food banks in Tillsonburg and Ingersoll recently.
Over 2,000 pounds of food and about $170 was raised for the Ingersoll food bank. Meanwhile 2,200 pounds of food and about $316 was raised for the Tillsonburg food bank. This means in total, they raised over 4,000 pounds of food and approximately $500 in cash donations.
Auxiliary Sergeant Mike Wilson tells Heart FM they had a lot of their auxiliary officers participate in the recent fundraiser.
"We have about 23 members on the unit and we had 13 out for both of the events which is fantastic."
Local OPP auxiliary officers cram their cruisers with donations two times a year. They always hold the fundraiser before the Easter long weekend and before Christmas. Wilson says Cram a Cruiser is a great fundraiser that is held in lot's of different communities across the province.
"It's a great community event to give back to the community. I know across Ontario most of the auxiliary units with the OPP do either Cram the Cruiser or Fill the Cruiser type projects so it's almost province wide."
The local fundraiser is held in partnership with Tremblett Independent in Ingersoll and Sobey's in Tillsonburg.
