Liberals extend restrictions till at least end of June
Bad news for those wanting travel restrictions lifted in Canada.
The Federal government confirming COVID-19 restrictions at the border are being extended till at least the end of June.
Health Canada and the Public Health Agency of Canada confirmed the extension until June 30th.
It means, the federal government will continue to require foreign tourists to provide proof of being fully vaccinated and all travelers coming to Canada regardless of citizenship, must also continue to submit health information through the ArriveCAN app.
Yesterday, the federal Conservatives motion to lift all remaining travel restrictions related to COVID was defeated in the House of Commons.
The Canadian Airports Council has blamed the long lines that have delayed flights at many of Canada's airports including Pearson in Toronto on the federal pandemic measures and insufficient staff.
Transport Minister Omar Alghabra says discussions about balancing public health measures with the fluidity of the economy are still ongoing.
