The Expo is the next step to improve the Oxford County Sustainability Plan.
WOODSTOCK - With the plan established and a transition board in place the next step for the Future Oxford Community Sustainability Plan is to host an Expo in January.
Anyone can view the bold plan for Oxford's future online now at their web site. CAO for Oxford County Peter Crockett says the expo will look how we can implement the plan and some of the major stumbling blocks.
"It's more of a let's start talking about how it's working in Oxford what is working, what is out there today and how are we harassing that and where are the opportunities and how can people get involved. The Future Oxford Plan is a vision for the community from the community, the whole idea is to stimulate thought, to see what's going on within the community already and a lot of initiatives are already underway, harness that energy and excite people and get the community engaged in the vision of Future Oxford."
Crockett says they have already lined up some amazing guest speakers and will have a number of exciting and innovative exhibits.
"We are expecting that a number of vendors of various equipment materials and so on in the sustainability field will be in attendance as well as a number of community organizations that are doing things that are related to the various pillars of sustainability around the economy, around the environment and around the community."
The expo will feature guest speakers Bryan Smale who is the director of the Canadian Index of Wellbing at the University of Waterloo. It will also feature an address by Dr. José Etcheverry, who has supported Oxford County in launching Smart Energy Oxford.
