She would like to bring the Downtown Enhancement Plan to life if she's elected for a second term as Deputy Mayor of Ingersoll.

INGERSOLL - The deputy mayor of Ingersoll would like to stick around for another four years.

Lindsay Wilson is just finishing up her first term on town council and she has decided to run for re-election.

She says everyone on council was very respectful of one another over the past four years and that's why they were able to get so much done, like getting the shovels in the ground for the Multi-Use Rec Centre for example.

"That is something our community has quite literally waited decades for and I don't think its a coincidence that it happened this term. We were very committed, myself in particular, to see that through and we did it! So that is very exciting."

Council also signed off on a Downtown Enhancement Plan and Wilson would like to see it brought to life during the next term.

"Whoever is at that table will need to continue to commit time and resources for those things to actually turn into action, so I am looking forward to the opportunity to be there to make sure all of these wonderful things we have put in place on paper actually happen for our community."

Wilson would also like to shine a light on community safety and road safety if she's elected for another term.

Before joining Ingersoll Town Council, Wilson co-founded the Municipal Campaign School of Oxford County and she was Oxford County's NDP candidate during the 2022 provincial election. She decided to run for the role of deputy mayor in Ingersoll that fall, because she had an interest in potentially running for mayor someday but wanted to learn as much as possible as the deputy first.

Outside of the world of politics, Wilson is a mother of two active sons and they frequent the local parks, rec centres and sports fields quite often. She previously worked in economic development, but she made the switch to the charitable sector a couple of years ago.

The municipal election is scheduled for October 26th.
