Warden Marcus Ryan stopped by the Heart FM Morning Show to discuss their recent council meeting.
OXFORD COUNTY - Many heavy topics were discussed at the latest Oxford County Council meeting.
One major topic was the potential for a HART Hub, which would be a tool to help with Homelessness, Addiction, Recovery and Treatment. It is a provincial project, which has to be applied for, and the Council had a very lengthy discussion on whether or not they would want to go ahead with the application.
Warden, Marcus Ryan says there were talks with the Woodstock Hospital's CEO and the benefit would be substantial for the County.
"They are very aggressively going forward with this. They think they could do some good for people in our community, and Oxford County Council said we want to write to the province and support that, and say yes support that work, give us one of those HART Hubs."
Warden Ryan adds that it will take some time for the province to determine where the hubs will go, and he expects there to be tons of applications submitted.
"I would say we will be well into the next year before we find out. There is no guarantee that Oxford will get one of these. With 19 around the province, we're are competing for this with Toronto, Ottawa, London, Kitchener-Waterloo, Kingston, and Windsor."
Warden Ryan mentions through the application process and areas that are applying some with get two hubs based on the size of the municipality.
Other topics were also discussed at the meeting, and you can listen to the entire interview with Warden Marcus Ryan below.
