Interview with Woodstock Police Service - Oct. 7th, 2026

Woodstock Police Services' Communications Officer, Pritpal Thind, talked about a pair of topics on the Heart FM Morning Show.

WOODSTOCK - Lots of Woodstock residents have questions regarding local trespassing laws.

Pritpal Thind is the Communications Officer for the Woodstock Police Service and made sure to talk about it during his interview on the Heart FM Morning Show today. He says business owners and employees have an option to help with potential trespassers.

"People have had that authority where they could task us with the authority to move people along or enforce trespass or property acts on their behalf. The only thing that's new is then in the coming weeks, we're going to be launching an online web registry where they can give the permission online, and we can have that record online."

He adds the trespasser/property act works differently for homes, so businesses are the only places that can permit police to act without contacting the owner. He also addressed the number of calls officers have responded to. He says volumes have consistently climbed year-over-year due to factors such as mental health, homelessness, and drug use.

"So, one of the issues affects the other two, and it does affect call volume, especially with some of the people that we have repeated interactions with."

Thind says if you see someone battling substance abuse issues, please help them and use the available resources. If you would like to listen to the complete interview with Pritpal Thind from the Heart FM Morning Show, you can do so below.
