The Elgin-Middlesex Detention Centre is on lockdown today. Guards are upset, and are refusing to report to work, citing health and safety concerns. This, after Ontario Corrections Minister, Madeleine Meilleur, said in the legislature today that Ontario jail guards weren't doing their jobs by allowing drugs and weapons into jails. Meilleur stated, ?One question I need an answer for: Who is not doing their job when there are drugs going into facility? Who is not doing their job when there are knives going into the facility?? Meilleur made the comments, after four correctional officers have been stabbed at Ontario jails in the last 3-days.
