Lot's of kids will gather at Southside Park on June 19th for a duathlon!
WOODSTOCK - The Woodstock Triathlon Club will be hosting a duathlon for kids on June 19th at Southside Park.
David Jenkin is the head coach of the club and the co-organizer of the event. He tells Heart FM that a duathlon is similar to a triathlon, but has no swimming involved.
"A duathlon exists to satisfy those people who want to do a multi-sport event but don't swim. So they would run and then they would bike and then they would run again."
Kids ages 3-13 can sign up for the event. Those working the event go by the child's age as of December of this year. So if you have a child that is currently 2 years old but turning 3 in later this year they can still participate.
Jenkin explains why he thinks kids should sign up.
"We think it's going to be a really fun event, we have t-shirts, medallions, we're going to have music, we're going to have the fire department there with Sparky doing tattoos and things like that."
The registration deadline is June 11th. You can register your child and find out more information including pricing on the Woodstock Triathlon Club's website, under the KidS Du tab.
