The St. Mary's Hospital Foundation is requesting Oxford County Council to donate $40,000
OXFORD COUNTY - The St Mary's Hospital Foundation has asked Oxford County to consider donating $40,000 to help them with their $5 million dollar fundraising campaign.
They need the funds to upgrade the equipment at the hospital and started the campaign last year and have already raised over $3 million dollars. Chair of the fundraising committee John McIntosh tells Heart FM why they are asking Oxford County for some support.
"Certainly encompasses part of Oxford County, which south of St. Mary's there are a number of Oxford County residents who use the hospital and more are using it all the time so the $40,000 request was based off the current usage of people from the County using the hospital."
Council will make a decision on whether or not to support the St. Mary's Hospital during budget deliberations. During the delegation Councillor Don McKay indicated he does not support providing funding to St. Mary's while Councillor Margaret Lupton disagreed.
