Oxford is part of the London region in the numbers released by statistics Canada. While the unemployment rate did climb locally last month we are still below the national average. The Country as a whole added 6,600 jobs last month and the unemployment rate held stead at 6.8 percent for the six month in a row.
Ontario's unemployment rate fell to 6.4% in July from 6.5% in June, however many insiders thought the rate would have been lower with the Pan Am Games in town during the month.
