For the 4th time in the past 5 months a loose tire from a transport caused a crash in Oxford County.
BLANDFORD BLEINHEIM - Nobody was injured after a tire hit a vehicle on the 401 just east of Oxford Road 29 in Blandford Bleinheim Township.
Police say the wheel had become dislodged from a transport truck heading eastbound on the highway. The tire bounced through the lanes striking an eastbound car causing minor damage on Monday morning.
The tractor trailer continued travelling east and was located at the MTO scales in Milton. An investigation is ongoing.
The tire crash happened just one day before the OPP and MTO public safety initiative at the En Route in Woodstock where they focused on transport safety and specifically wheel displacement. They will be at the Westbound En Route again on Thursday from 9 a.m. to 3 pm. This is the fourth case where a tire has been displaced causing a crash in Oxford County since November. One of those crashes was fatal.
