Woodingford Lodge in Tillsonburg held a mock emergency drill this morning.
TILLSONBURG - Emergency preparedness was a focus for an organization.
This morning there was an event, and Administrator for Woodingford Lodge-Woodstock, Kate MacDonald, explained.
"Woodingford Lodge in Tillsonburg conducted a mock evacuation drill where we evacuated 33 residents from our building to the neighbouring shelter in 46 minutes."
MacDonald says this is the first full test of the procedures with their residents, and using a mock evacuation. They used a flood as the situation in the drill. She adds, it took only minutes to get the residents away from the original danger spot, then the other 40 to 45 minutes was the time it took to get to the neighbouring shelter. MacDonald says the staff were great at transporting the residents and making sure they stayed safe and calm during the transfer. MacDonald adds where they will go from here.
"Our next step is to take a closer look at what went well today and what can be improved and then incorporate those learnings."
MacDonald says they are very happy with how the drill went and the cooperation from everyone involved.
