Special tours are being held all over Oxford County during National Public Works Week
OXFORD COUNTY - Oxford County Public Works is giving a behind the scenes look for National Public Works Week.
They are planning special tours of several of their facilities during the week. Director of Public Works Robert Walton tells us about Tuesday's special tour of the Waste Management Facility.
"People will be able to see where things that need to be landfilled are landfilled but they'll also get to see the really great things that are happening down there with diversion of waste, our construction and demolition yard there where we take construction and demolition waste, and then we have a contractor that takes it away and recycles it."
The Public Works department also handles monitoring our water and cleaning our wastewater. They also maintain our roads and Walton says there's more to that then just plowing them in the winter.
"The rest of the year there's a lot of other operations that go on from installing culverts, working on road shouldering, fixing signs."
People are encourage to use #NPPW and #always there on social media during National Public Works Week.
