WOODSTOCK - The Woodstock Navy Vets open up their first round playoff series against the Applejacks tonight in Wellesley.
Their first home game is this Saturday night at 7:45 p.m. President Devon Young says they added some players at the deadline and he thinks the Navy Vets are ready for the post season.
"Well, we are different teams - I would say we match up well but they might say the same thing down there - they are a bit bigger but I would say we skate a lot better than they do which would be a plus to our team. They are a little bit heavier, a little harder on the puck, so that is going to be the matchup: speed vs size."
Woodstock fell short of their preseason goals this year, however they are hoping to turn things around in the playoffs.
"At the start of the year our goals were a little bit higher but at the end what we are most concerned about is how we are playing, how we're progressing, the progress of it all. In that regard I think we are in a good place because the team is playing some good hockey. Chad and Matt have them operating a good system now and that is what I am really happy about."
