New Detachment Commander for Perth OPP

Inspector Rob Scott started his new position as the Detachment Commander for Perth OPP on February 16th.

PERTH COUNTY - Perth County OPP has a new Detachment Commander. Inspector Rob Scott, formerly with the Norfolk County OPP, started his new position on February 16th. He is taking over retired Inspector Steve Porter. Scott says he is excited to start his new job.

"It has been a goal of mine to be a detachment commander and it looks like I have achieved that but I still have a lot of work to do and things to learn".

Inspector Scott tells Heart FM what some of his immediate goals are.

"The most important goal for me is to get to know the men and women at the Perth detachment since I am new here. It's a team effort starting with the front line officers, the civilian support staff and a team of sargeants comprise of the detachment. Also I'm certainly looking at developing those integral partnerships with the police services boards and other community partners as we move forward".

In the end, Inspector Scott doesn't think it will take him too long to get used to his new detachment.

"Policing is policing and communities and communities. It's tough to compare. I came from Norfolk County which was a larger detachment, it has its challenges. Perth County is a smaller detachment and it has it's challenges as well. But in some respects we don't have the major events like Norfolk County does but that is not often a bad thing for my position either".

Inspector Scott has been an officer with the OPP for 26 years.
