Norfolk OPP Briefs - May 22nd 2018

Norfolk OPP briefs include a dirt bike accident, a case of shoplifting, and a couple of missing vehicles.

DELHI - A 22 year old had to be taken to hospital after his dirt bike collided with a cement pad on Delhi.

Emergency services were called out to Main Street shortly after 4pm yesterday. Officers say the driver was going through a field when the incident occurred.

He was taken to hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

DELHI - A 38 year old man is facing an assault with a weapon charge after police were called out to an incident in Delhi.

Officers got word of a suspicious man on James Street shortly after 6pm on Friday.

They say the man had attended the home, took his pants off and walked away. The homeowner later found him in the garage and the suspect picked up an item and made a gesture towards them while waiting for police to arrive.

Jamie Lee Kopriva was charged in this case.

DELHI - A 28 year old man is facing a laundry list of charges after police were called out to the Pioneer Gas Bar in Delhi.

Norfolk OPP responded to a shoplifting report just after 4:30am this morning.

Officers say the suspect stole merchandise and fled the scene.

They tracked him down not too long afterwards and John Charles Willard has been charged with theft under $5,000, two counts of assaulting a peace officer, personation with intent and failing to comply with probation.

WINDHAM - Norfolk OPP have charged a Brantford man after they pulled him over in Windham.

Officers stopped the vehicle on Windham Road 3 Friday afternoon, after their Automatic License Plate Recognition system went off.

20 year old Jacob Manley has been charged with driving while under suspension and using plates not authorized for a vehicle.

WATERFORD - Norfolk OPP are investigating a case of mischief in Waterford.

Suspects attended a Washington Street business early Saturday morning and damaged about 11 windows, pushed two portable toilets over and kicked a garbage can over. Officers also found a picnic table floating in the Waterford ponds.

Police are reviewing the security footage in hopes of catching the culprits.

DELHI - A 26 year old woman has been charged after Norfolk OPP responded to a report of a missing vehicle on East Street in Delhi.

Officers got the call shortly after 8:30am yesterday.

They say a woman had drove off with the victim's vehicle without asking permission. Police were able to find the woman with the vehicle in Simcoe later on.

Bethany Nicole Lee has been charged with taking a motor vehicle without consent.

WATERFORD - Norfolk OPP are on the lookout for a stolen vehicle in Waterford.

They say the white Volkswagen in the 2013 model year was taken from an Alice Street address early yesterday morning. It was parked in the driveway at the time.
