After a sluggish start, Norwich is hoping their strong finish to the season will carry into their match up with New Hamburg
NORWICH - After a slow start to the season, the Norwich Merchants head into the playoffs as the underdog with a real shot to take out the number two team in the league.
Norwich will face New Hamburg in their first round matchup. The first game is on Friday night in New Hamburg, with the second game in Norwich on Saturday night. President Ken Gillanders tells Heart FM the team is confident after beating the Firebirds twice in the past month.
"Certainly it was a boost in confidence for our squad as a whole and especially for our younger kids who are still on a learning curve and still need to develop. It is certainly going to be a huge task to knock off New Hamburg and we are prepared to give it our best effort."
Norwich was in a bit of a transition season after making the finals last year, and the team really started to gel at the end of the year winning 8 out of their last 10 home games.
"Obviously we had a very slow start to the season, which is not very characteristic of our team. But give credit where credit is due and the coaching staff and the players stuck to the plan and we had a strong finish to the season."
