The Norwich Merchants are getting ready for another highly competitive season of Junior C hockey.
NORWICH - Training camp is in full swing for the Norwich Merchants as they get ready for another season of Midwestern Junior C hockey.
The team has had a great turnout for their training camps and a lot of the players from last year are returning. President Ken Gillanders tells Heart FM they are expecting the league to very competitive again this year.
"The Schmalz Cup Champions Ayr Centennials, they will be great again, the New Hamburg Firebirds are good, Woodstock is putting together a nice little club over there so from top to bottom we are in tough this year, there is no doubt about it."
Norwich will play their home opener against Paris on Friday September 16th at the Nordell Arena.
"We're going to honour our captain from last year Zack Morrison, who is going to be in attendance for our home opener. It's always nice to bring in your significant contributors from years past and he will there to drop the opening faceoff."
