Lynne DePlancke would like to return to Norwich Township Council as the Ward 2 Councillor.
NORWICH TOWNSHIP - The by-election for Norwich Township is shaping up.
There will be two people in the running for the open Ward 2 seat, and Lynne DePlancke is one of them. She served as the Ward 2 councillor for 16 years, before launching a mayoral campaign last fall. She finished in second place, and now she's looking to regain her former seat on council.
"When it became vacant, I thought with my experience, the 16 years being on council before, I thought it was a good time to put my name in and see if I can get my seat back."
DePlancke says there has been a lot of division in the Township, particularly around the discussion of Pride flags, but it's time for everyone to come together.
"It has been a tough time for the community, but I think to be a true community we have to be open and accepting of everyone, and we have to respect everyone."
DePlancke also serves on the Norwich Township Police Services Board.
She will be running against William Van Lagen, who placed in second while running for the Ward 2 council seat last fall
Ward 2 covers the village of Norwich and residents in Norwich Township will head to the polls on September 18th.
