Oxford County MP Arpan Khanna stopped by the Heart FM Studio and took the time to discuss a few topics.
OXFORD/OTTAWA - Oxford County MP Arpan Khanna continues to fight for justice.
Khanna stopped by the Heart FM Studio to discuss what has been going on in Ottawa. He has a new role in the House of Commons and talks about what is involved.
"I was elected as the Vice Chair at the House of Commons Committee, so we'll be scrutinizing every piece of legislation that comes to Parliament that's related to the justice file. So again, a lot of crime stuff, a lot of stuff for victims, the Divorce Act, freedom-related issues."
Khanna also picked up the role of Shadow Minister for Justice and Attorney General. He says it isn't the roles or titles that define a person, but the work they do for the people of their riding and country. Khanna will be hosting a Town Hall meeting tomorrow at his office in Woodstock. He says who will be in attendance.
"So, we'll be inviting some of our key stakeholders in Oxford County, from Crime Stoppers to the Woodstock Police, the OPP, and others in our community to come and have a conversation with us. Tell us what's working when it comes to the justice system and what's not working."
Khanna says this isn't open to the public, but a public form will be available in the coming weeks.
