Police Briefs

Briefs include a suspended driver and an unsecured load and an impaired driver found passed out behind the wheel in Woodstock, racing in Stratford, theft in Zorra Township and an impaired driver in Ingersoll.

WOODSTOCK - A 19 year old suspended driver was charged with speeding, while carrying a large insecure load in Woodstock.

Police say they stopped the young driver on Oxford 4 near Devonshire Ave on Sunday. The vehicle did not have a rear licence plate, the driver did not have a valid drivers licence, and the entire truck box was filled with wood pallets and cardboard stacked several feet higher than the sides of the truck box without being secured safely in place.

WOODSTOCK - Woodstock Police were tipped off about a possible impaired driver heading to Woodstock early Saturday morning. 

Officers arrested a 34 year old man from Beachville around 6:00 am. They found the man unconscious behind the wheel of the parked suspect vehicle in the area of Dufferin Street.

The man was charged with impaired driving.

STRATFORD - A woman from Oakville has been charged with racing after police clocked her doing 140 km/h in a posted 80 zone in Perth South.

Stratford Police say the Volkswagen Rabbit was speeding on Elginfield Road last Saturday afternoon. The 21 year old driver was charged with racing. Her vehicle was towed from the scene and her licence was suspended for 7 days.

INGERSOLL - A 45 year old from Oxford County has been charged with impaired driving in Ingersoll.

Police say the stopped the vehicle on St. Andrew's Street late Sunday night. 

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Woodstock at a later date.

ZORRA TOWNSHIP - Oxford OPP are investigating after a theft on Oliver Crescent in Zorra Township.

Police say a number of items were taken from an insecure truck bed. Among the items stolen, were various yard and power tools that were marked with pink spray paint.

Anyone with information about this investigation is asked to contact the Oxford County OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
