Pre-orders are now being accepted for the Teal Pumpkin Project to make this Halloween fun for all.
WOODSTOCK - Trick or treaters in Woodstock might spot some teal pumpkins on doorsteps this year. Homes across Canada and the US have been participating in the project by placing a teal coloured pumpkin on their doorsteps since 2014.
Volunteer Hillary Desmond says the project helps kids with food allergies feel more included.
"The idea of the program is to encourage families to offer non food items on Halloween as well so we can include children who can't otherwise enjoy the regular Halloween treats."
Pre-orders for Teal Pumpkin Packages are being accepted until September 10th.
Desmond tells Heart FM what each package includes:
"Packages will include a pumpkin, a sign you can put up on your porch or on your door on Halloween that just states the reason behind the teal pumpkins, you'll have a little sticker to go with it, and we're also including 10 loot bags."
Pre-order packages cost $10 but if you miss the pre-order deadline you can also purchase packages for $13 at their Pumpkin Sales in the coming months. The first sale will take place on September 29th at 1077 Sprucedale Road in Woodstock and will run from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. The second sale will be at the same address on October 1st and will run from 8 a.m. until 11 a.m.
If anyone needs extra loot bags you can purchase 10 more bags for $10. Once ordered the packages and loot bags will be delivered to homes on October 24th and 25th.
To pre-order a Teal Pumpkin Package you can e-mail Hillary directly at h.desmond@rogers.com or visit the Woodstock Teal Pumpkin Project Facebook page.
