Some changes to the relays in Woodstock, Tilsonburg and Ingersoll will be announced at the Relay for Life Rally on February 24th.
WOODSTOCK - The Canadian Cancer Society is making some changes to the Relay for Life based on last year's feedback.
They will be going over some of the changes during their Relay Rally on February 24th and Fundraising Specialist for the Oxford County Community office Liz Wismer-Van Meer says this is a great chance for people who weren't satisfied last year to get a fresh look at the major fundraiser.
"We really encourage those people to come out to the Rally on the 24th because we want to hear what you have to say. We did do surveys last year and we've made these changes based on the suggestions from the people that we spoke with."
Some of the overwhelming feedback they received had to do with the time and date according to Wismer-Van Meer. "We are going back to the Friday night event, it's a 7 p.m. to 1 a.m. event and let people know what to expect at the event. And also get themselves registered. If they come to the event they can get their registration T-shirt." Registration costs $15.
Wismer-Van Meer says they hope to get a high level of support from the community once again as this event is integral to the Canadian Cancer Society. "This year our goal is $165,000. We were a little bit over that last year in the $179,000 range. So we're looking for $165,000 this year. Hopefully we can bring in that 60 teams again."
There are also other changes that will be discussed at the Relay Rally.
The Rally is February 24th from 5 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at the Quality Hotel and Suites in Woodstock. It is an open house format so people are encouraged to drop in and ask questions.
