One driver was pulled from a burning vehicle and the other was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries.

WATERFORD - The Norfolk OPP is investigating a serious crash involving an SUV and a passenger vehicle in Waterford.

In a video posted on the OPP West Region X page, Sergeant Ed Sanchuk said it happened at the corner of Thompson Road East and Dumcombe Road and the call came in shortly before 6:00 p.m. yesterday.

"What I can tell you is there was a collision, the SUV burst into flames and a good samaritan heard this crash and rescued the driver from that burning SUV. The passenger vehicle went into a treed off area and that driver was airlifted by Ornge to be treated for serious injuries."

He also thanked the good samaritan that stepped in to help, adding they likely saved a life.

Police closed the area for the investigation and no further details have been released at this time.
