SOUTH-WEST OXFORD - Ward 1 in South-West Oxford has a familiar face running in the election.
Paul Buchner has put his name back on the ballot as he is currently sitting in the Ward 1 seat. Buchner says getting Fibre internet into the Township was a big thing he helped accomplish this past term.
"We came up with some deals with Execulink, and now Explorer is finishing off the few parts that Execulink didn't finish. So, by the end of 27, the whole township should have fibre or availability of it."
Buchner mentions that if re-elected, he would like to help finish the new Municipal Administration office. He also talks about why he wanted to remain on Council.
"Our CAO just retired last September, so we have a new CAO, and there is also a new clerk. So, a lot of new faces need to come up to speed and need the support of people who know what they're doing."
He mentioned he thought it was a good idea for 2 or 3 current Councillors to stay on and make the transition as smooth as possible. Residents in South-West Oxford will head to the polls to cast their ballots on Monday, October 26, 2026.
