Free of charge hundreds of cars have packed Dundas St. for the annual car show.
WOODSTOCK - After being acknowledged as one of the best in recent years Streetfest wraps up today on Dundas Street. As the Streetfest Cruise takes over the downtown core hundreds of cars have packed the main drag that has been filled with vendors and entertainment since Thursday. Heart FM spoke with a Paramedic from Oxford County EMS who was taking part in the festivities and explained what they were providing at Streetfest. "Our aim is basically to promote community para-medicine, get public access defibrillators out in the community, and train people so that everyone is comfortable to use them. We have a lot of people coming through that are interested, it is great to see children and adults of all ages coming by to learn the defibrillators. It is a great outdoor community event we are seeing people from all over the county coming out."
The Free event gives businesses the opportunity to bring their products outside with others vendors taking part in the celebration. One of the many groups present was the Woodstock Fire Department and Public Information Coordinator for the fire service, Lisa Woods, explains why they take part. "We want kids to learn about fire safety and parents to learn about fire safety. We also want to let the community meet their firefighters and get the kids comfortable with us, if they need help we are here to help them. There are a lot of people wandering around we've had a lot of great questions, it is just about interacting with the community members and answering questions that they have and they thank us for what we do and that is also appreciated too."
Woods went on to add how much fun can be had. "We come every year this is at least the 11th year in a row that I am aware of that we've been here. They love to have us hear were a big draw obviously the big red trucks bring people out to sidewalk days too, but we like to interact with community and like to see the people and have their questions answered." The BIA of Woodstock who are behind the endeavour have made the 2015 Streetfest a large success after encompassing entertainment from all genres. Dundas Street will reopen following the car show at 3pm as preparations will start being made soon for Summer Streetfest 2016.
