Craig Gillis has thrown his hat in the mayoral race in South-West Oxford.
SWOX - He's finishing up his second term as the Ward 6 councillor for South-West Oxford Township and now he's running for Mayor.
Craig Gillis says he learned a lot over the past seven and a half years and he wants to push himself even further. When asked why he wants to run for Mayor, he had this to say.
"Well, Why not? Right! I'm not afraid to speak up for others and work collaboratively as a team and I think it helps being a councillor for the last two terms to kind of see the role differences between councillor and mayor and see what it takes to move forward."
Gillis says his experience in municipal politics has taught him a lot of valuable lessons.
"I think Council has worked very well together to tackle things that have come in front of us. Our project that we have been working on and we are still trying to finish is get quality internet to every premise in South West Oxford Township."
The municipal election is scheduled for October 26th.
