The Perth District Health Unit is looking for female volunteers to help run their Teen Esteem Program.
The Perth District Health Unit is recruiting volunteers for their Teen Esteem Program. They are looking for adult female volunteers to help facilitate the program for Grade 5 and 6 girls.
Communications Manager Rebecca Hill tells us about the six week mentorship program.
"A female volunteer goes in and they run some exercises, some crafts and some games with the girls all while talking about their own life experiences and things they experienced growing up."
Hill says they are looking for adult women who want to help youth and have a story to tell.
"We're looking for women of all ages; just that they are adults and that they would be looking to connect with youth in their community. This is a great way to do it to connect with young women."
The program runs out of schools during the school year. Volunteers would need to stop during the lunch hour one time a week.
If you are interested in volunteering you can contact the Coordinator of Volunteer Services Donna Bentz. You can e-mail her at dbentz@pdhu.on.ca or call 519-271-7600 with the extension 305.
