Southside Park will host the Terry Fox Run for the first time this year.
WOODSTOCK - After two-years of virtual events, an in-person Terry Fox Run will be held in Woodstock this year.
Chair John Versaevel says the fundraiser will be taking place in Southside Park this year, but the new location will be the only difference compared to other pre-COVID years.
"It's going to be a regular Terry Fox Run. It's a family event where you register and people can run, walk or bike the courses."
Registration will begin at 9:00 a.m. that morning in the Southside Park pavilion and an opening ceremony will be taking place at 10:00 a.m. Volunteers will be on site collecting donations and pledge sheets until 12:00 p.m.
Versaevel would like to raise $30,000 this year.
"All of the Terry Fox money from here goes directly to the Foundation. Nothing is kept here for expenses or anything of that sort. It's all set aside for cancer research."
Those interested in raising money for the event will be able to pick up a pledge sheet at the Woodstock Farmers Market on Saturday August 27th, Saturday September 3rd, and Saturday September 10th.
The organizing committee is also hosting a special event with Todd's Dogs in the Home Hardware parking lot on Friday September 9th and they will be on site for the Woodstock Navy Vets home opener at Southwood Arena on Saturday September 17th.
