Zorra Township Mayor Marcus Ryan, Blandford-Blenheim Mayor Mark Peterson, and South-West Oxford Mayor David Mayberry were automatically elected to their positions yesterday. No one filed to run against them in the upcoming municipal election.
OXFORD COUNTY - The Mayors of Zorra Township, South-West Oxford and Blandford-Blenheim will serve another term.
Zorra's Marcus Ryan, South-West Oxford's David Mayberry and Blandford-Blenheim's Mark Peterson were elected by default yesterday, after no one decided to run against them in the upcoming municipal election.
At least 12 Mayor and Deputy Mayor positions were acclaimed across the province yesterday. This includes the mayoral candidates in Russell, Deep River, Laurentian Hills, North Dumfries and Wellesley.
All of the candidates running for the Townships of Tay and Front of Yonge were elected by default yesterday. South-West Oxford came close to joining them, with only one position with more than one candidate. Incumbent Paul Buchner will battle Mark Renaud for the Ward 1 council seat.
