It's Tax season in Canada and some scam artists are looking to take advantage.
STRATFORD - Stratford Police are warning the public about the Canada Revenue Agency Scam after getting 16 complaints in the past 24 hours.
Inspector Sam Theocaris tells Heart FM they have had a number of complaints recently from residents in Stratford who are getting calls in what is known as the Canada Revenue Agency Scam.
"In the past 24 hours we have gotten 16 complaints, now I'm sure that is just a fraction of what is actually occurring, I've talked to different people who are accountants who say they are getting calls every day from clients about the CRA scam."
Theocaris says the scammers will use high pressure sales tactics and threaten you will jail time if you don't pay up. He wants everyone to know the CRA will not call your house like this and if you get one of these calls to simply hang up.
