United Way is getting ready to announce a campaign starting on September 17th.
WOODSTOCK - September is promising to be a big month for the United Way Oxford. The not-for profit organization's fundraising campaign benefiting people in the community will be announced to the public in a just a few weeks. Executive Director for the United Way Oxford, Kelly Gilson, gives a preview on what to expect. "The official launch will be on September 17th, and of course this is a wonderful time for a new workplace to consider starting a campaign. We've had lots of volunteers working at our needs in the community and trying to put together a big plan to do the work that we want to do." Although Gilson didn't reveal the financial goal they would like to reach, she couldn't say enough about the volunteers who help the organization every day.
Gilson spoke to Heart FM about the services they offer in the community. "We fund a variety of organizations, in particular really the programs and services we have programs for children all the way through to seniors. Based on consulting with the community we are having conversations and we're in the process of really re-designing all of that work as well. It is a very exciting time."
Gilson, explains why they need money to keep the organization expand throughout the community. "In order to do the work that we want to do it requires financial resources, volunteer resources, and we want to raise dollars through those campaigns. We also want to raise awareness cause ultimately the work that we are doing, the money that we are raising, is always about working with community partners to make peoples lives better here in Oxford."
Gilson would like to thank the workplaces who have been helping past campaigns and would welcome anyone who wishes to join.
