Warm Long Weekend Temperatures Expected

We could receive record setting high temperatures this Family Day long weekend, with a high of 11 degrees expected for Saturday.

We could be in for a record setting weekend temperature-wise.

Right now the forecast calls for sunshine and warmth right through the long weekend. Warning Preparedness Meteorologist Geoff Coulson says this is a far cry from the snow we saw earlier this week.

"A warm up in store right across southwestern Ontario that's going to include the Woodstock area. We're looking at temperature for the holiday weekend well above normal. Forecast high for Saturday 11 degrees, 10 degrees for Sunday, 8 or 9 on Monday."

In fact it's so warm that Coulson says we could set some records.

"The record for Saturday is 11.1 degrees set back in 1949 and we're forecast a high of 11 for the area so we're going to come close to that. Sunday as well could be close for record at the London Airport too with that forecast high of 10 degrees. The current record at the Airport for February 19th is 10.7 set back in 1984."

Coulson does caution us that even though we're reaching up into the double digits this weekend, there's a good chance we could get another good dose of winter before the season is done.
