The names continue to be submitted for the upcoming municipal election, and Joe Brown is running for a councillor spot in Woodstock.
WOODSTOCK - A name has been put forward for a City of Woodstock Councillor position.
Joe Brown, who is the Executive Officer with the Woodstock Wolverines Football Program, has officially joined the race. Brown says why he decided to run.
"In the back of my mind, I've always kind of had an interest in local politics, and I just felt like now is the right time to put my name in the running and see what I could do to help, just maybe give a little bit more back to the people of Woodstock."
He adds he covered local politics with Rogers TV in St. Thomas, and he sees himself as a student of council meetings. Brown says what he hopes he can do if elected to the council.
"You know, if we can kind of bring certain people together in the community to help solve problems for the city, I think that would be beneficial. And that's where I think my past experience with like coaching and doing the television comes into play."
He mentions he is interested in tackling the issues of homelessness and recreation, among others, and making sure the community is always involved. Residents of Woodstock will head to the polls for the municipal election on Monday, October 26th.
