The new chair of the Fanshawe Woodstock/Oxford Regional Campus has over 19 years of experience in higher education.
WOODSTOCK - The Fanshawe Woodstock Oxford Regional Campus has a new Chair.
Greg Yantz accepted the position last week and will take over for Donna Derer who left the position in November after accepting a new role at the London Campus. Yantz has been on the job for a week now and talks about his first impression in Woodstock.
"My first impression is one that it is a vibrant community, a family in may ways. I travel around to all of the campuses and I have travelled around to Universities and Colleges everywhere and you do have a first impression when you first walk in. The first impression here is one of excitement, friendliness, collegiality, it's part of the reason that I applied for this role and part of the reason that I am excited to be here."
Yantz has over 19 years of experience in higher education including seven years with Western University as director of administration with the Don Wright Faculty. He is a graduate of the University of Michigan, holding a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. He also earned a Master of Arts and a Master of Philosophy from New York University.
Yantz tells Heart FM about his vision for the regional campus.
"My vision is that we continue to meet the needs of the community, students are first. Certainly we invite everyone to our Open House that is on March 25th. I look forward to meeting everyone in person and people can learn more about our campus and have some treats as well."
Dean of Fanshawe College's Faculty of Regional and Continuing Education Susan Cluett is excited to add Yantz to the team.
"Through his approachable, collaborative style and his strong communication skills, Greg has demonstrated an ability to achieve successful outcomes while nurturing a strong sense of team. I look forward to working with Greg in his new capacity as Chair to build on the successes of the Woodstock/Oxford Regional Campus."
Yantz for his part is also excited to join the team.
"I am very excited for the opportunity to continue the exceptional growth and success of our campus. I am going to actively engage in ensuring our campus is creating the best possible learning environment and at the same time, meeting the needs of our community."
