David Harvie is ready to retire after serving as the CEO of the Woodstock Public Library for three years.
WOODSTOCK - The Woodstock Public Library will have to find a new Chief Executive Officer.
David Harvie has announced his retirement plans after serving as the CEO for three years.
He has been working in the library sector for 27 years, spending time with the Southern Ontario Library Service, the Stratford Public Library, the Kwartha Lakes Public Library, and the Georgina Public Library before joining the Woodstock Public Library in May 2019.
The last three years of his career were quite busy, dealing with the aftermath of the cyber attack against the City's computer network and the COVID-19 pandemic.
"My primary focus has been to continue to provide library services to our community during the pandemic, while ensuring the health and safety of our patrons and staff. Our success during the pandemic in quickly pivoting our services, whether to online story-times, or to curb-side pick-up, was due to the creativity, resilience and dedication of our library staff."
Harvie is now looking forward to spending some time on a farm in the Stratford area with his wife and the Woodstock Public Library Board has launched a nationwide search to find his replacement.
