Multiple awards were handed out at Woodstock City Council to the best floats from the 2016 Santa Claus Parade.
Awards were handed out for the best school spirit, the community champion, the most unique float and the best float from a corporate sponsor. First, second and third place awards were handed out as well.
BIA Manager Kelly Morrison says the parade committee had a hard time picking the winners.
"It was a difficult decision to pick the recipients of the various awards because the calibre of the entries was just top notch and made it very difficult."
Secret judges were stationed all along the parade route in order to witness the parade in action. Members of the parade committee also looked at pictures and videos of the parade afterwards in order to help in the judging process. Points were awarded for originality, effective light usage, having a theme and having a good spirit.
Morrison tells Heart FM about the float that took the top prize.
"This year the first place winner was a first time entry from Sysco so we couldn't be more proud to present them with the first place award."
Here's a list of some of the other award winners:

Notre Dame and Sainte Margurite Bourgeoys placed second.

Move with Grace Dance Studio placed third.

The Best School Spirit Award was presented to

Indwell was presented with the Community Champion Award.

Allen Building Centre and HDE Roofing were honoured for having the Most Unique Float.

Vuteq was presented with the Best Float from a Corporate Sponsor Award.
The Woodstock Santa Claus Parade Committee is also on the lookout for new members as they prepare for the 2017 parade. They have already met once this year and they will continue to hold more meetings throughout the year. Contact Kelly Morrison 519-537-5721 for more information.
