The Woodstock Santa Claus Parade has been cancelled for 2020 with plans to return bigger and better in 2021.
WOODSTOCK - The Woodstock Santa Claus Parade has been cancelled for 2020.
This was not an easy decision as the parade is a beloved, community run Woodstock tradition. In an email to Heart FM Terry the Chair of the Woodstock Santa Claus Parade Terry Chisholm explained why they made this decision
"This was a difficult decision for us as our parade is a beloved, long-standing, community-run Woodstock tradition. Many in our community have already lost much due to the pandemic - our committee weighed the present Covid-19 uncertainty, financial concerns for our sponsors, float entries, schools, bands, volunteers - and most importantly, the health and safety of our citizens and visitors.
While we hope that it will be over soon, we couldn’t take the chance of another wave, and the last thing we want is put anyone at risk.
While he won’t be in our parade this year, we want to reassure children that Santa will still be coming to visit them in December as usual!
We’re hoping to come back strong, healthy, and safe in 2021."
