Crystal Finch is currently the Ward 4 Councillor for Zorra Township, but she's eyeing another seat in council chambers.
ZORRA - The Ward 4 Councillor for Zorra Township has decided to run for Mayor.
Crystal Finch is wrapping up her first term as a councillor and she has really enjoyed growing, learning and making connections over the past four years.
She would love to continue to grow and serve the community, so she has big goals if she becomes the Mayor this fall.
"Just making Zorra better! Putting the residents first and working to make a stronger, supportive community for everyone that honours agriculture and small town values. I've enjoyed listening, serving and working with our residents to create opportunities."
She would like to make government more accessible.
"I find a lot of residents struggle with thinking the government is not working for them and we're not doing things for them, so I think we need to educate the residents on how we can work together and make things happen."
Finch grew up on a farm just outside of Embro. She has worked for Maples Homes for Seniors in Tavistock for 22 years now as a PSW, providing behavioural supports for dementia patients two days a week. She was also part of a group that advocated and fundraised to bring a splash pad to Embro. That campaign started in 2018 and it ended with the grand opening for the splash pad in August 2022.
The municipal election is scheduled for October 26th.
