Marcus Ryan would like to serve a second term as the Mayor of Zorra Township.
ZORRA - The Mayor of Zorra Township has decided to run for re-election.
Marcus Ryan is wrapping up his first term as Mayor and he also served as a Township Councillor before that. He says plenty has been accomplished over the years but stressed that the achievements are the communities, not just his.
"Our community has achieved a lot that people thought we couldn't do. From saving schools like A.J. Baker Public School, stopping high-speed rail, and probably the most high-profile one was stopping the dump that our community didn't want."
If re-elected, Ryan wants to put his focus on building a great place to live for the children of the community.
"My main motivation to run again is our communities' children. Whether it's the climate they live in, responsible long-term finances that determine how they live because of the tax they pay, or making sure every one of them belongs regardless of who they are. There's more to do, and I still think I can contribute to that."
Voting will open for the municipal election this fall, on October 24th.
