Vets and Merchants go to the shootout to determine a winnner
It truly was the Battle of Highway 59 at Southwood Arena Tuesday night.
The Vets and Merchants went the distance with Norwich defeating Woodstock 3-2 after a shootout.
The game was tied 1-1 going into the second period with Norwich netting the only goal in the second frame. Woodstock battled hard and Dan Haig tied it up with just over 5 minutes left in the game.
Overtime couldn't determine a winner so the game went to the shootout where all three of the Navy Vets shooters were shutout while Kurtis Lavis picked up the winning shot for Norwich.
Woodstock will travel to Delhi Wednesday night to take on the Travellers in a game with serious playoff implications. The Navy Vets trail Delhi by one point in the race for the final playoff spot.
After a break Thursday, Woodstock will meet up with the Merchants again Friday night in Norwich and wrap up their four games in five days by hosting Delhi on Saturday.
