MOE response to Walker's Landfill proposal has the company looking for a deadline extension.
Questions and comments are coming in from the Ministry of Environment on the Walker Landfill proposal.
The company behind the proposal to bring a massive landfill to Beachville has made a formal request to the Ministry of Environment for an 8-week extension.
The company says it needs the time to respond to the issues the MOE is raising about their Terms of Reference that was submitted in August.
Project spokesperson Darren Fry tells Heart FM what the Ministry is looking for more information about. "A lot of interest around water quality and air quality and a number of the concerns the community has already expressed to us."
Fry says it's not uncommon for extensions to be granted, given the complex nature of the proposal.
At this point, he says it's just dialogue between Walker and the Ministry. "Those comments have been directed directly to Walker. I'm not exactly sure about the public availability of those comments."
