Mark Baxter has been the head trainer of the Norwich Merchants since 1993.
NORWICH - A long time trainer for the Norwich Merchants has been honoured for his dedication to the local Junior C hockey team.
Mark Baxter was presented with the PJHL Trainer of the Year Award at Nor-Del Arena last Tuesday, ahead of Game 6 of the Merchants semifinal series against the Woodstock Navy Vets. PJHL South Conference Manager Steve Sumka was on site for the presentation.
Baxter has been the head trainer of the team since 1993 and an article in the Woodstock Sentinel Review says he's closing in on 1,400 games with the Merchants.
Norwich finished in fifth place in the Doherty Division standings during the 2025-2026 regular season. They were eliminated after suffering after losing their best-of-seven semifinal series against the Woodstock Navy Vets 4-2.
