CBS asks people to start the New Year by giving blood
Canadian Blood Services is asking Oxford residents to start a new years resolution to give blood on a regular basis.
The organization is hosting a clinic today in Woodstock. The clinic runs from 12:30pm - 7:30pm at Goff Hall in the Community Complex.
Community Development Coordinator Laura Marques says if you're a first time donor, you will be at the clinic for about an hour. "There is a series of questions and criteria that the donor has to meet. Some of the basic criteria is tattoos and ear piercing, you have to wait 6-months. You have to feel well. So no colds...if you're feeling a little bit under the weather, you might not be able to donate."
Marques says the need for blood doesn't take a holiday, and if you're still in need of a new year's resolution, giving blood is a great one. "We encourage you to rally your family and friends and bring someone with you to donate. Start the new year off right, by donating blood."
