In the fall many residents of Oxford County will be seeing changes to how their garbage is collected.
Starting in September most of Oxford County will experience changes to their garbage and recycling collection.
The only exception will be the City of Woodstock.
In South West Oxford they will be moving to a 6 day rotation where your garbage collection day will change every week.
The rest of the County will now be offered recycling pickup every week on the same day as garbage collection. Waste Management Coordinator Pamela Antonio tells Heart FM residents will likely notice two big changes this September: "The same truck is going to pick up your garbage and recycling, so it's still important to separate your two materials but in September we are moving from a two stream recycling collection system to a single stream system. What that means is instead of separating out your container products from your fibre products you can put all of your recyclables into one blue box. By putting all your recycling into one blue box that allows us to collect garbage and recycling with one truck. "
Antonio says the enhanced service will cost less and will have less of an impact on the environment.
It officially comes into effect on September 14th. Antonio says they are going to add a few things to the recycling system this fall as well. They include aerosol cans, film plastic, additional styrofoam in the small packages.
