Lots of changes have come in the PJHL. The divisions will be shaken up to start the 2024-2025 season, and the playoffs this year have gone away with the Schmalz Cup tournament.
WOODSTOCK - The regular season is coming to an end in the PJHL.
Starting next season, the Doherty Division will be seeing a new team.
The Dorchester Dolphins are making the switch from the Yeck Division.
Woodstock Navy Vets President, Devon Young sheds light on the move.
"Currently, we have 7. That loop, the Dorchester, Thamesford loop has 9. The push from above was to try and get them both to 8, we don't want a team missing the playoffs in one division, and having a bye in the one 5 minutes to the other side."
Young says he is excited to have the Dolphins join and begin what could be a new rivalry in the Doherty.
He also talks about how the playoffs will be changing this season.
"The League Governors decided during that tournament, before it concluded to return to the original playoff format."
The tournament format will be gone, and now teams could have to play anywhere from 4 to 7 series in the playoffs this season to be crowned Schmalz Cup champions.
Each playoff series will be allotted 14 days to be completed.
The regular season in the PJHL will conclude at the end of February.
