Over 144 tickets were handed out by West Region OPP, which includes Oxford during a March Break Distracted Driving blitz.
OXFORD COUNTY - West Region OPP, which includes Oxford County charged 144 people with Distracted Driving during a March Break Blitz.
They also handed out four distracted driving related Careless Driving charges. Province wide over 1,508 distracted driving tickets were handed out last week.
The OPP is reminding drivers about the increased distracted driving penalties that took effect on January 1, 2019. The new penalties include a fine increase up to $1,000, three demerit points and a three-day licence suspension. Novice drivers also face longer licence suspensions under the new laws.
