WOODSTOCK - The Downtown Woodstock BIA has decided to cancel Streetfest this summer due to COVID-19.
The decision was made at the BIA Board of Management meeting held last week.
At this moment, this cancellation applies only to the Friday August 7 and Saturday August 8 dates of the event.
The Sunday Streetfest Cruise Car Show is a separately run event, hosted by Southgate Centre. They have been made aware of the BIA’s decision. We anticipate that they too will be making decisions on their event one way or the other, in the future.
Manager Virginia Armstrong explains why they made this decision now.
"The BIA is a single staffed organization that relies on the financial support of Summer Jobs Canada Grants, which provides funding for a summer student to assist in the coordination of this annual event. The lateness of grant approvals this year, the uncertainty of the pandemic and its impact on our Downtown, has made this event logistically impossible to plan for in 2020. The BIA’s utmost concern is the safety, health and survival of both our Downtown Woodstock BIA members/businesses and the public."
Everyone is encouraged to visit the BIA website online here to see which businesses are still providing services, many in creative ways.
You can also find update information on the BIA Facebook page.
Your Downtown businesses need your support now more than ever, consider buying a gift card, order take out or buy online for curb side pick up.
