The best Peewees in Canadian Baseball are in friendly city.
WOODSTOCK - The much anticipated DQ U13 National Baseball Championships began this morning in Cowan Field.
The tournament features the best Peewee squads in the Country.
Chair of the tournament, Jeremy Jaenson says they are expecting a lot of fans to come out this weekend.
"We are actually expecting over 1000 people per day to come out the the tournament. Our home is that Woodstock will come out to see the host team play right after the opening ceremonies."
The bid process for the friendly city to host the tournament began back in January.
Tournament Chair Jeremy Jaenson on what separates Woodstock from the other cities that put in bids.
"We have an absolutely facility; the parks department has worked so hard to get these diamonds in pristine shape. We all get together and know that the city does well with these events. So everyone gets together and put s on the best event they can."
The official opening ceremonies begin at 5:00 p.m. today at Cowan Field. There are 10 teams participating in the tournament, including representation from Ontario.
